You really just said that? You really really just made fun of a 9 year old that probably won't live long enough to go to college? Wow...what an as$hole.

For those that are just reading along...the singer of the national anthem was a nine year old bone marrow reciepent. In other words a nine year old girl with a terminal illness.

Then I'll say the same thing I told my wife afterward: She stunk. And if you didn't sense the crowd was growing uncomfortable by the time she got to the "rockets red <squeak>", then you were too lost in your own pity for this girl.

I feel sorry for her with what she's going through, but god she couldn't have ended that National Anthem soon enough.

I'm sure her parents were proud that their daughter had the courage to give it a shot. Takes a lot of class to say any 9 year old stunk... much less one fighting a terrible disease. Real nice.

I give her credit for taking a swing at it and grimaced for her as she couldn't hit the notes. It almost seemed like she started too high and couldn't go "even higher" with the song. Poor kid!

That was exactly it. She started off wayyyy too high so that way by the time she got to the "rockets" part she couldn't reach 'em. It was just uncomfortable, cringe-worthy thing to listen to.

And new2charlotte, if your statement was supposed to make me stop and re-think what I said, wrong.... she still stunk. I give her credit for trying too, but it pretty much ended there.

Then again, if I were the parenting kind (which thank God for the rest of ya I'm not) I wouldn't have sent my kid out there anyway.

The next Saturday home game is February 21 vs Florida - the end of a three-game home stand against them (Feb 17, 19 & 21). Florida is currently in first place in our division so a big home crowd would be great for those games.

If there's any interest in some big city-data get together for that one I can put an inquiry through the Checkers website. We'd need a minimum of 15 people and I don't see it being all that difficult to reach.

First of all. It's Ms. A$$ hole to you!! I was writing mostly to Steve and Brian in reference to the chicken incident and thought that the smiley w/ the "I should keep my mouth shut"() would indicate the humor that was intended.
Not sure why you feel the need to fill in all the others that are reading along, THEY WERE THERE.
When you jump down off your high horse, know this: I cried through most of that song, and I'm guessing every mother in the arena did too. I think it is also safe to say there wasn't a person in that room, with a beating heart, that didn't feel embarassed for that girl, but did you notice the ovation????
Oh yeah, and have a little faith. While you're telling people she'll be dead by college and that her condition is terminal, this a$$hole and her family are praying for her.

If you were there and I offended you, I'm sorry. If you were not there you should know that her condition had absolutely nothing to do with her inability to sing that song. I'm willing to bet she sang it a hundred times prior and sang it beautifully. Last night she started out WAY too high and choked. Plain and simple.
