Fort Mill, SC is where you should look. They have great schools, low tax's and houses within your price range. I would look at English Trails by Mattamy homes.

check out Caldwell Station. Half the neighborhood sits in Huntersville while the other sits in Cornelius.

Okay... so we looked in the Huntersville/University area east of 77 yesterday and we weren't too impressed. McGinnis Village was our favorite subdivision, but for us, the area surrounding it just isn't developed enough yet. A few shopping centers, but not enough restaurants, bars, etc. (We're in our 20s so we'd like to have these amenities close by our new home!) We also are concerned about 285 finishing up in the next few years and having the highway potentially in our backyard. Does anyone know how we could find out exactly where the highway will be built?

We're checking out the areas west of 77 today (specifically Cedarfield and Henderson Park, based on your recommendations).. Hoping the area will be more developed than what we saw yesterday!

Do you mean 485? It won't go through Huntersville but will be in northeast Charlotte. Here is a map
As you'll see today there is a lot of retail west of 77, including Birkdale Village.

We really loved Henderson Park and we're going back this weekend to see the inside of some homes. We'd also like to hit up a few more subdivisions in the area to make the most of our day. I know Cedarfield has been compared to Henderson Park but are there any other subdivisions like it as well?
