Jake, just wanted to say thanks for a great recommendation of Chima. I had a lot of trepidation about going b/c I had been to the most popular one in Manhattan twice & it was awful both times. But this was night & day, like a 1000% difference all around. It was very nice looking too. If anyone is interested they are having a lot of discount specials listed on their website that you can either just mention while booking the reservation or print out. I made a reservation for 5 people, & half of us got a free meal & the 5th got a discount. Very smart in this economy.
Anybody been to Brazas lately? They have a groupon today for about 60 percent off & I'd like to feel a little more comfortable that it hasn't gone dramatically downhill in the last 6 months before I plunk down my $20!

I bought one. There's some comment about new management, so hopefully that will correct any problems they may have had.
Brazas is the only restaurant I have ever been to where I decided to tell the waiter that the food looked so disgusting that I changed my mind and would rather leave. Maybe it was our timing (lunch on a Saturday), but my wife and I both thought that the buffet items looked like last week's warmed over leftovers and the meat they were bringing around looked like they found it in another restaurant's dumpster.
On the other hand, Chima is one of the best restaurants in Charlotte. It is a bit on the expensive side, but you really get what you pay for.
