The "Design Center" in midtown was orginally supposed to be an Expo. Then HD stopped opening new Expo's and even closed several. The one to be built in midtown was then changed to be a Design Center. Now, for the life of me, I have no idea what the difference is between an Expo and a Design Center, but there is apparently some difference. The link below lists all the stores that are closing. And as was previously mentioned only Charlotte and one other store in California are listed as Design Centers, the rest are Expo's and some kind of stores called Yardbirds...

Does that mean they will also be closing the Home Decorators store inside? I love that store!

Expo's items were 75% special order as apposed to HD's 25%. Design center was in the middle with 50/50 special order and stock items.

It would be nice to have a Container Store in that spot. I think it would do good in a semi-urban location and I think a first in Charlotte.
