CMPD at Providence High School
Each morning I take my son to PHS and there is a police car which sits in the median at the entrance to the school and opposite Legacy of Arboretum appartment complex. I have to make a left turn out of the school to get back on to H51. Because of the huge amount of traffic coming and going there it actually gets gridlocked on that left turn. So students and carpoolers start to turn into the apartment complex and uturn to come back out and cross straight across the road into the school. Meanwhile the people leaving the school cannot get out because of the lousy light change. All the time the policeman is sitting in his car. I have never seen him get out - not once. I wonder do you think CMS pay for him to sit there? Do you think they get a cheaper rate if he just sits there?

He NEVER gets out to direct traffic? Are you sure? Maybe he is just not out of the car when you happen to be passing? I would seriously call the school and ask what his purpose IS in the first place - just sitting there while all that goes on seems ridiculous and you should inquire about it.

I have been doing this carpool since August. I sat there this morning from 7:04 to 7:16am waiting to get through the traffic light. I have never seen him get out. Seriously I just wondered if they do have to pay him. Seems a bit of a waste especially if he is just there for fender benders.

I live next to the highschool and no one directs traffic. Traffic conditions at the school are terrible. Many parents drop/pick up their students off at Beverly Crest to avoid the school traffic. I myself have trouble trying to make a U-turn into Providence Court Apartments with the hasty students trying to get out.

Someone needs to make a video and post it. I bet that would get some response!!!! That seems counter-productive - a cop just SITTING there. ????

I am sure they are paying him for security purposes only. When I was in high school back in Ohio we actually had 4 city police officers who were at our school all the time, they even appeared in the high school yearbook but at times we would have as many as 8-10 officers just sitting around doing nothing but talking.

Call the school and ask if he is being paid by CMS to be there. He may be there for another reason.

Yes, it may be the city provides the services of a cop on site during the morning just as a visual reminded of CMPD presence on the campus.
