Well, my problem is not customer service. My problem is they let my check sit around for more than two weeks . . . and then charged me interest.

Uhhhh. On the phone and getting transferred all over the place.

In fact, now I have been transferred back to 311.

Okay. I give up. This is my third call and all I get is someone's voice mail.

I talked to the guy at 311 (the last time I was sent back to 311) and he said just send it today and as long as it is postmarked b/f 1/31, all is fine - no more accrued tax.

But no one can explain why I sent this thru/ BB&T and BB&T assures me it should have gotten there b/f the first . . . and yet it wasn't cashed til the 17th.

It ain't worth the hassle to keep on with this, but dern . . . I am disgusted.

I had something similar happen to me. I paid my car taxes at the end of 2007, personal check by mail.

Sometime in the fall - Oct, Nov 2008, I was pulled over for not having my registration sticker. (oops) I call the DMV to see about the 2008 sticker - they say that I haven't paid my car taxes.

I called the county tax office to find out that I owed something like $1.25 in "late fees", and they had put a hold on my registration. When I asked why they put a hold on my registration instead of just sending me a bill (or calling me), I just got this blank stare.

I guess this is a typical government system, not concerned about the customer.

Oh yes! That is exactly why I am so peeved about this! They can (AND WILL) hold up your registration!

What a mess to straighten out. And THANKS for the great customer service over $1.25. I feel your pain.

Well, I am not going to waste more time on this. I was going to write a gazillion letters and protest, blah blah, but it is best to just get it over with and move on.

I hate bureaucrats. Really. I do.
