My wife and I are moving to the area in June and are having to say goodbye to our local credit union. We are going to be living in the FortMill area and are having a tough time deciding on what bank to go with. We have gotten so used to the free aspects of the credit union here. All of the fees that we are seeing seem to be similar with all of the banks and I can't find any CU's we would qualify for. Anyone have any suggestions/preferences on banks in the area?

Thanks

Any positive or negative experiences with Bank of America or Wachovia? I believe they are fairly equitable but have never used either

I had a Credit Union in FL so I had to pick a new bank, so I went with Bank of America.

I have had no complaints.

Though I do find it amusing as I work inside a Wachovia building....

First Charter is a good bank as well. I'm not sure how popular the bank is in the city though, but I do know of at least 1 one location in Union County & there are a few throughout Charlotte/Meck. County

For us...we have had nothing but positives...with our little Wachovia Bank in Fort Mill (Gold Hill Rd/Hwy 160). We too had a CU in another state...but we have kept the minimun amount in it...just to keep it active.

When we come down, well, at least what I am going to do is bring my BB&T acct with me, don't know what dh is going to do with his acct. I can keep my same acct # and just get new checks.
