Default Schools in Matthews- good?

I'm just wondering, I had originally crossed Matthews off my list, because I wanted to stay away from the CMS due to all the shuffling of kids and schools. But, the town itself looks wonderful. It's actually the very first town I researched when considering NC. So I'm wondering from all you that live in Matthews, what do you think of the schools? Have you had to change schools many times? I checked the test scores from a few schools , which look good. But this moving thing has got my kids SO nervous, I'm trying to make it as easy as possible. I REALLY don't want to bounce them around year after year. How do all of you like the town itself? Thanks for any info!!

There is a part of Matthews which is actually in Union County. It has a 28104 area code which is shared with Stallings (the town I'm moving to). Matthews is a very nice town. It does have a nice (but small) downtown with some restaurants, stores, a farmers market. I think it has a pretty good community feel to it. The schools I've looked into have good scores if nothing else. I know, however, surrounding areas are having serious growing pains. The school my children will be attending was just built, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they had enough foresight to make it large enough!

Thanks, Jerseymom, I will definitely keep that in mind when searching areas. I did notice the elementary school that kept coming up when I was searching for houses had over 1000 kids. Wow, that seems like a lot for an elementary school. I could be wrong, the one my son attends now has around 500. Thanks again.
