I was just wondering if anyone knows if CMS is going to hold their annual job fair this year. I saw that the district was looking to cut over 350 teachers but with 5 new elementary schools opening and retirees and teachers lost to other districts I figure they still will have positions to fill.

I am sure they will, but I don't know the date. Usually it is around the same time as Union County's which is April 24th.

I think it is scheduled for April. I work in the system. I will try to find out Monday and post it.

Don't be so sure. I saw the job fair on list of items that may be cut to save money. I think they estimated savings of around $85,000 from cutting the job fair.

(will search for link)
Interesting that the online articles are different (shorter) than the articles in the print edition of the Observer.
Trust me, the job fair was listed as a possible item to cut, but no decision announced yet. Seems to me it would be politically easier than cutting things like middle school sports and would eliminate the (justifiable) complaining about spending money on recruiting new employees while laying off others.

Just a curiosity question. Are you from Cape May? Just thought by your SN maybe you were. I'm from Bergen County, Paramus.

I gots to tell you, it would be "so CMS" to have job fair as they simultaneously fire teachers.

Worse, they would have some tortuous rationale that the central office thought was compelling and that the guy on the street would just shake his or her head and smirk.
