New to Mint Hill (Charlotte, Monroe: design, area, map)

I just moved back to the Charlotte area (Mint Hill) after 8 years away and I am so happy to be back. I am stunned at the growth all the way to Monroe! Wow. Can anyone explain to me the "inner" and "outer" designation on 485 signs? Are there two different 485s? It is hard to find your way around if you've been away for a while! Thanks!

If you think of 485 as one circle inside of another, the inner loop is the one closest to downtown and the outer is the one closest to SC.

The inner loop goes westbound while the outer loop is eastbound. For instance, if you get on it at Independence and you want to go to Pineville you would be on the inner loop. For the return trip, you would be on the outer loop.

If you do a Google map search for Charlotte, NC and zoom in on 485 it is a little easier to understand (I think).
