The extreme end of the "working class vs. the wealthy" is the basic premise of communism. Wealth distribution and and class-less society. Now I know that the poster wasn't referring to that, but it's logical conclusion is that.
I hear ya. I don't agree with wealth redistribution. But I do care where my tax money is going to and I'm sick of giving millions to these fools. I'm also outraged at things like Geithner being able to get away with being our Treasury Secretary when he didn't pay his taxes. This stuff is not fair. I think only by banding together and using our voices, maybe we can change it.

I prefer the idea of pulling people up and creating new wealth (hence my thread on businesses to start).
I agree with this as well. It's better to become more entreprenuerial. Too bad on your thread there weren't more ideas!
I'm not suggesting rampaging the streets, or abandoning one's workplace. Peaceful demonstrations of solidarity around a common theme - no name calling or finger pointing at particular businesses - at a time when people can show up, wouldn't be a reason to lay a person off.
Am I interpreting your comment correctly? That if a person demonstrated publicly, lawfully, that they could be laid off or fired from their job?
Unfortunately, yes. They just won't tell you that's why you are beign let go. Pretty much like what they do if you mention the word 'union'.

Well, yes, of course, most states are right to work states and you can be fired for no reason whatsoever. You can litigate if that happens. But I don't think people should just lay low and hope to not lose their jobs. Of course, some folks will do that, and some will demonstrate, and some will be in between and do their own thing.

That's why I think it's important if a protest is done, that you need ALOT of people. Suppose half of Bank of America came, would they lay ALL of them off? If they did, then who'd be left to run their company? No tellers to do banking transactions, no one in IT fixing production issues on their website, no investment specialists to drum up business and accumulate more accounts, etc.
Well that's why I said extreme end of that concept. Besides the way to get a gluttons attention is to take away his means to eat, not necessarily standing outside his window while eats. Protest with the pocket book is the only attention getter that matters.
Had good chuckle there...
I completely agree with the protest with the pocketbook part, but, as someone else stated before, taking your money elsewhere isn't going to hurt the CEOs, it will hurt the lower-level employees.
There really is a sort of "pre-revolution France" regime in play at these corporations...CRAZY! And we're all buyin' into it!!!!
Well, I have just enuff of the hippie left in me to want to get out in the streets and protest A LOT OF THINGS. I want to protest the way HEALTHCARE policy in this country is dictated by lobbyists of the pharmaceutical and insurance industries!!!!
I want to protest that more of my tax dollars are going to take care of rebuilding Iraq (when they have their own full coffers in Iraq!!!) than are going to help w/ programs for special needs children, for example
I want to protest OUTSOURCING OF JOBS!!!!
I would drive to DC and stand in the pouring rain . . . and have told my family this. I sincerely mean it.
ETA: but i am not interested in doing this unless there are at least a million others willing to go stand beside me!!!!
Who says it should be the employees of these companies protesting? It should be the rest of the public!
I would never suggest anyone, who wants to keep their job, go out and picket! Never!

Is there room for someone with a "Power to the People" t-shirt?
