I saw the interesting thread on McCar Homes, and was wondering if anyone had feed-back on Centex Communities. I know I have been in a house in the "Reserve" for 9 months now, with only 1 minor complaint about the home itself.

Thoughts?

I am curious also to hear about Centex. They are building a 500 home subdivision right beside a McCar subdivision in Indian Trail.

They're building in a development called Spicewood in Fort Mill on Gold Hill Rd. I just can't see the draw of these $280,000+ homes with, IMHO, no "character".

That is my problem with Centex as well. The only homes I like are in the $400-$500k range. The majority of their homes appear to be 'raised ranch' styles which do nothing for me, but at least the builder has a good reputation.

I guess there can be lemons with any builder. Sorry that you are having problems.

I live in a centex community and we love our house. The quality is great. You have to be a smart shopper though and get the upgrades that add the most value and are harder to change once it's built. Flooring is one in my opinion. We're very happy and have had only a couple of minor problems.

Like most builders, Centex builds different models for different subdivisions. If you don't like a model offered there, look at other communites.
