This is North Charlotte. Mallard Creek is decent place to live with average school rating. Highland creek is little bit farther with good schooling system.
Mallard Creek (less than a mile or so) has nice apartments. Arbors (prosperity church between mallard creek and senator royal e) has some decent dining as well.
What exactly are you looking for - residential place or dining places?

There are a lot of apartment complexes near to the CIC center (assuming that is what you are talking about). Some give discounts to Wachovia (Wells Fargo) employees. It is a decent area, very diverse, close to everything.

this...
I also live in the 28269 part of Highland Creek. I've found the 28269 zip code covers a whole lot of ground from here to south of Harris blvd.

I live right between Harris and Mallard Creek Church on Mallard Creek and am also in 28269 and it is quiet and close to everything. For what I paid for my townhouse I would not move.

I worked at CIC for 5 years (I am uptown now) and would recommend Highland Creek area if I was going to stay in 28269. I live in Huntersville and love it up here - if I was ever to move it would be up to Davidson. Highland Creek is a wonderful area (we lived there 8 years) and it has tons of housing options.
The commute to CIC is pretty easy - I know people who live in Ballantyne and say it is pretty traffic free too. As for schools I love Torrence Creek Elementary, I hear Highland Creek is good too.
