The joy of living one development away from the fallout of one of the subprime lending meltdown areas where Skank St. intersects Drug Drive!
No wonder that poor poster is so upset!

It is, and it is a really unfair situation.

THey need to get aggressive over there but how is another question. ????

Ani, I am as surprised as you - and very disappointed - that part of Steele Creek is really nice otherwise. I hope the neighbors who remain in that neighborhood band together before their home values all plunge.

Me, too. They have to figure out a way to run the scum out - meaning - the lowlife who are hanging around dealing drugs and the criminal element.
Where is Chuck Conners when you need him?
Ooopps . . . out campaigning, methinks. Sorry. Guess that is another thread.

Like the plot of "Law & Order" that I'm currently watching. That poster is one of the victims of the Subprime Mortgage Lending Crisis as surely as the sun rises in the east. The unfortunate side effect of that, is making the neighboring areas around it collapse like a house of cards. If that area goes down the tubes, that poster will be lucky to get a third of what he paid for his house in two years. It's so sad! Charlotte city planners along with a lot of the builders should be marched into an empty field and shot!

Well, I don't necessarily advocate shooting anybody - unless of course they are coming thru my window - but this is a bad situation. Not sure what the answer is, but I do know most of Steele Creek is very nice, and I for one hope it can stay that way. But residents like nkjaws are going to have to be very proactive during this time of fallout.

loves - Steel Creek is still probably mostly very nice, but didn't they say the same thing about the area around the Eastland Mall thirty years ago! The problem with Charlotte is that it has an awful lot of land so the same mistakes can still be repeated over and over again. That's the really sad part!

How does one really control developers, tho, when they buy up land and are building according to zoning laws? What can really be done?
And if people hesitate buying in the area, prices continue to plunge.
