Default Probably like other openings

I remember when the IKEA in Shaumburg, IL opened several years ago. They were giving away roundtrip tickets to Sweden. Times have changed .

Personally I have several bookshelves and kids' furniture from IKEA. They are more than 9 years old and have moved very well from location to location. I'll let you all know how they do after we move to Charlotte in the next few months!

I don't buy the particle board stuff: only the pine. Lasts a very long time (and they are now going through the third kid!).

I LOVE the store in Schaumburg!! It has been on my list of "must do"s when going home (you will develop such a list, trust me). Now, however, since we have a local IKEA, I can scratch that...which is good, because that list is always so long I can never get it all done!!

oh, and off topic, before you come...you will want to go to Sam's to load up on Vienna hot dogs and Italian beef. You cannot get either here easily and you won't believe how you will miss them!

I agree with the OP. I am also a college student so my money goes toward my education or towards things so I can concentrate on my schooling. But I support anything that will better Charlotte. Go Queen City!

Wife and I walked through IKEA in Michigan..once...

Kind of like a Costco or Sam's Club with furniture...

But I would have never compared it to Costco or Sam's, at all. How about a home furnishings store on steroids, with a restaurant? It's not like thier selling toilet paper in bulk..a man's perspective of shopping.
