Where to live if you are into Cycling?
Where are the best parts of Charlotte to live if you are into road cycling / triathlon? The only requirement within a reasonable commute to the airport. Right now here in Madison WI I can ride from my garage to quite country roads in 5 min. Anything like that in the Charlotte area? Thanks for the help.

Alas Charlotte is not that great for cycling, I would look into Gaston County or Fort Mill area two best areas for cycling around here.

I know on the east side of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson there are all kinds of people going along the roads between those towns and Concord/Kannapolis. Some weekends it looks like the Tour De France. I finally realized where the flyingscotsman name came from. We just saw that movie a few weeks back

Out towards the USNWC. Its close to the airport. Belmont, Mt. Holly. I dont ride/race anymore, but there are some country roads in that vicinity.

Cleveland County has tons of scenic and quiet backroads that would be great for training. Kings Mountain is only about 25 minutes from the airport, Shelby about 35 minutes. Boiling Springs is a great location too, but a good 50 minutes to the airport.
Back in the day (1970's), we used to train on quiet country roads like Highway 51, Elm Lane, Providence Road West, etc. LOL

I frequently see cyclists in the Indian Land, S.C. area (northern Lancaster County panhandle) and just east of I.L. in Union County. There are a lot of country roads, but some are getting busier. During warmer months, I also see very large groups of cyclists on Hwy 521 in Indian Land.
