OH yes ,its very very dry kindleing and you dont want to put it right beside your house, One ciggarette tossed into it and your house could burn down. Use it out in the yard away from your house to be safe.

I don't like the pinestraw at all and one of the first things I do when moving into a new home is to remove it and replace it w/mulch. Spiders love the pinestraw - another reason to get rid of it. I generally place a heavy layer of cedar mulch around the perimeter of my home and cover w/the pine bark mulch. 8 years, no termites.

I had 1/2 acre w/a lot of natural area at my last home and outside my fenced in backyard, I did initially spread the pinestraw, it wasn't as bad when it's not the only thing in your yard.
