I get the news at home on cable in the morning, and via the internet...

I have an hour and a half commute daily so I pretty much have to depend upon WBT for my morning news.

I don't know why anyone would miss Gary Williams. He is an arrogant, sarcastic, pencil-necked geek, that was probably picked last every single day at recess, yet acts as though he is the most knowledgeable sports guru ever. Anyone with ANY advanced athletic experience whatsoever, would identify him immediately as a poser. I can't imagine him being successful on a national level, but then again the market is full of chumps just like him.

Sad thing is, what they replaced him with is even worse.

Boy, I feel better now.....

I agree with most of what you said, but he wasn't meant to be an athlete imposter. He was on the show because he is a journalist. He could talk intelligently and understandably. He is from the same mold as Mike Greenberg and Joe Buck. None were likely good athletes, but that doesn't discount them from being good journalists. Gary Williams wasn't my favorite radio personality, but at least he had the ability to reel Selania back in when he got too far off point. I don't even turn the station on anymore.

Default Sports Talk in Charlotte

Have to agree...most of the Sports talk here is horrible...

Mike & Mike being the best alternative pretty much says it all...they are overrated...

How many times can Golic be the super manly one and Greenie take the wimpy side of a disagreement? OK, guys, I get it--the total opposite thing is sooooooooooo tiring now.

Liked Mac better in the midday...Pacman's show spends too much time BSing and just laughing at stuff that isnt/wasnt funny and not about sports...Here is a high concept: I want sports talk on my sports talk station...hmmmm...

Oh, and will someone tell QCB to stop yelling all the time? My speakers in my home/car/office work perfectly fine...plus, a lot of times that makes what he says hard to decipher...

OK, Im finishing ranting now...

And yes, since Im not a big fan of the sports talk here, I have stopped listening...

Do yourself a favor and break down and get sirius. If you spend any significant time in your car, and enjoy talk ro music, you will thank me after about 1 day. I turned on regular radio about 3 times since I got sirius 3 yrs ago and all I heard was commercials.

By far the best $13/mo I spend.

Sports talk radio in Charlotte is terrible. The problem is that WFNA or WFNZ or whatever they are calling themselves, have no competition. It's the only thing sports station in town. Gary Williams was good, not great. Mac is terrible and Selania is even worse. Frank and Buck are better, but not by much. They all talk about the same things... ACC , SEC, Nascar, Panthers, and Bobcats. That's it. Don't worry though, someone is coming to save the Charlotte Sports Talk Radio market.....stay tuned!

What do you expect? You are in the Southeast where college basketball/college football rules....this is what local people want to talk about.

Its no different when I was up in NJ and WFAN talked about the Giants/Jets/Yankees/Mets.....

I really have no problem with this.

If you don't like it you have other options. Get XM/Sirius or turn on Christmas music on 104.7....
