Just moved to Charlotte in April. We've been to a few churchs and I just haven't found one I'm happy with.
I grew up in a non-denominational church and my husband grew up Baptist. We're looking for something that is somewhere in between. So far, we liked Gateway in Concord and Freedom House Church in the University area but we had one or two small problems with both.
We're looking for someplace that is somewhat contemporary. I like the screens with the verses, having a good website, somewhat more contemporary music...etc. What we have a slight problem with is what happens between songs. Ever band member starts chanting something different and it's very strange. When the song is over, why doesn't it end?? Also, we're not fond of the "laying your hands on me" healing thing. Niether one of us want to see people throwing themselves in the isles and screaming. We don't mind raising hands and occasional shouts of amen or whatnot, but sometimes it is out of hand.
So basically, we are looking for a place somewhere between insane and boring. Any ideas?

Sounds like Forest Hill might fit the bill. Their minister is an awesome speaker. They are located on Park Road, near SouthPark. I'd give them a chance Good luck!

Calvary in Pineville seems good too Very big church. We have tried it a few times, non denominational, contemporary but none of the laying hands (at least the few times we've been there )

Forest Hill is an EXCELLENT church - the pastor is very good and a lot of people recommended that church to us when we described what we were looking for.

We went to Mecklenburg last week, and we plan to go again this week. Thanks, it was exactly what we were looking for.
