They were'nt the first , but you may find it helpful. Visit www.montgomerycounty.comfor more info. To get there , take Albemarle road to Albemarle and follow the signage.

Thank you!!

Hi...I may have some information that could be helpful in your search. My German ancestors founded much of the area you are doing research on. Hildebran, Henry River and Drexel areas. Our family history has been traced back to 1425, is published and much of it can be seen online. Letters, census records, land purchase receipts, ship manifests, supply receipts and pictures of early Burke county....all may be useful to you. Perhaps the information in the book could be a way to locate some of these original papers for your collection?

The poster above was correct: the Morovian church in Winston-Salem is a wonderful source of information. They have passages in their achives from where many German travelers (like my ancestors) were permitted to stay on the outskirts of their community while passing through from one German settlement to another. They recorded everything. You can make an appointment and they will let you see the archives.

"The Lowman Story of Faith, Hope, Hard Work and Dreams" is the name of the publication. From what my family research shows, most all of the German settlers who ended up in this area did indeed come in from Lancaster County, Pennsyvania.

Best of luck in your search! I hope this info was helpful to you

1425 in the Americas?!

We have ours to late 1500s in Europe, but nothing before 1620 on this continent.
If you have family history documents circa 1425 on this continent I'd love to be pointed towards a book.
Are you Norse possibly?

The Mayer family, 1425 in Ulm, Germany....we didn't arrive here until 1746 on the ship Ann Galley from Rotterdam. Two passengers listed from my family (brothers) Johann Ludwig Lauman and Martin Lauman. My family book traces Martin.
