Peak Fitness
Just an FYI for peak fitness members:
Even if you sign up for a year you need to cancel your membership when the contract ends or they will keep charging you. I knew that so I called two months in advance to cancel. Well....they had me call their financial group. The financial group had me fax a cancellation letter with specific info including an acct. number I never even had access to. They said they would fax a confirmation back to me and never did. When I called back a few weeks later it was like starting at square one. SO....if you want to get out of your membership when your contract "ends", give yourself plenty of time to jump through their hoops. I'm not sure I gave myself enough time with two months prior to my contract ending. Silly me!

There was an article in the Absurder about Peak fitness and a court ruling. You may want to see what that says. I think there was a class action lawsuit.
I'm glad I go to a small local gym

I must have gotten REALLY lucky. Besides the two-month to cancel rule (stupid), my wife and I got out ok.

Peak Fitness Pineville Mathews Rd.
Hi. Seems like there are pros & cons to Peak Fitness. Anyone go to the Pineville Mathews Rd location? I'm moving to Charlotte next week (yes..I have a job!) and want to join a gym. I just had to pay a $100 cancellation fee at my gym here in Richmond even though I'm moving.

I've been a member at the Pineville-Matthews location since they were Gold's Gym.

Peak Fitness is an amazing gym and I love it. I workout at the one in Ballantyne off of Ardrey Kell Road and it's extremely nice!
They have free child care, aerobic rooms, tanning beds, locker rooms with sauna and showers, plasma TV's throughout and a ton of work out equipment.
I just renewed for 2 years and did notice that the membership will automatically renew so hopefully if I need to cancel for any reason, it won't be too hard!

I too had to pay a $100 fee at the Gold's Gym in the Fan area of Richmond. I would've paid $2,000 to get out of that city though! You'll find Peaks to be pretty cool, especially if you are a Veteran. $25 a month!!

I agree! I used the Ballentyne one and loved it! The only draw back was that the child care did get busy during certain times in the morning and this past summer.....but I was usually able to work around it. I had to end my membership after the contract ended as my husband is losing his job. It really bugs me that they weren't more customer friendly to me. It took a long time and alot of phone calls to end my membership. It's leaving a bad feeling for a place I actually loved.
