Its all melting off the streets right now. It'll probably be gone by 2pm off the streets. I had to go out and do some fishtailing and donuts in my Jeep on the way to work All those Prius owners laugh at my 15 mpg gas mileage, but who's laughing today. hehe

I'm very pleased to see that the snow is melting. I think I might be one of the few people who had to go to work today! My company's HQ is in VA, so they don't know about the weather here... so off to the office I had to go this morning. And, since I'm hourly, if I don't go to work, I don't get paid. So here I am!
I will say that the ride in was a bit scary. I heard about all of the wrecks on the highways, so I came in on secondary roads. My little street was a mess, Central Avenue was a hockey rink, and Wendover was not much better. I stuck to the right lane, going approximately 20 mph, sometimes a touch faster but not much, since the road was very slick. I came to an intersection where the traffic lights were flashing. I was taught to treat this as a four way stop, so I stopped before going through the light. Sadly, a moron in a large pickup behind me apparently did not attend the same driving school as I did, and he was very upset that I didn't just proceed through the intersection. The screaming (I was watching in my rearview) and the lovely finger that I got repeatedly was just a little much for me before 8 am. I need to have at least two cups of coffee in my system before I can handle that madness.
Then the jerk decided to ride my bumper the rest of the way. I just couldn't imagine why he was doing this - the speed limit is 35 mph, I'm going a bit slower, I was in the right lane, and there was nobody in the left lane at all! Why couldn't he just change lanes and go around me if he was in that much of a hurry? Sheesh. Some people.
I'm just grateful I made it here in one piece!

Uh, so your car has an advantage one or two days of the year, and the Prius is better the other 364 days? I don't own a Prius, but sorry dude, you lose. Hey look, it's mostly melted now, so the Prius is still better today, and it's not even lunch time yet.

I dunno, 8"-12" in the northwest cancelled hundreds of flights, so I guess we're in good company.

Glad you made it safely. Sorry you had to endure such a rude person this morning, especially in hazardous road conditions.

Why do people feel the need to be little situation. When you get two days of rain, and any cold weather thats a lot of ice. I in a 4 wheel drive at 20 mph was having lots of issues. So we should be playing it safe. So yes, this one might only be a day, but if it extends, (such as my 5 hour power outage), (i.e. a few years ago, 7 days no power), it can be havoc.

Well my jeep cost me $0. So with the 20 miles a day I drive to work. I put in approx 486 gallons of gas per year. At $2 per gallon. I spend $973 per year.
A basic Prius costs around $22k. At 20 miles per day (x 365) / 45 mpg = 162 gallons x $2 = $324 So a Prius owner saves $ 649 per year, however it takes them 33.9 years of that savings to make up the initial cost of the Prius itself.
Even if gas were $10 per gallon it would take 6.7 years to make up the difference
So I am still the one laughing even after the snow melts.

As much as I like it here, I still miss the hills in Brooklyn...
