I'll add my own rip-off airport, which was not included and has to do more with the prices of food, drinks, etc. New York's JFK. I was coming back to Charlotte and had time to kill, so I went to the bar to get a beer. I ordered a Heineken...no prices were given. I'm about halfway done with my beer and a guy next to me only had 1 Bud Light...I was sitting in front of the cash register...$8.96 for 1 Bud Light!!! I almost spit out my beer. I had time to drink a few more, but I didn't want to pay $40 for 4 beers. I get my tab...$9.98 for 1 import beer. Charlotte Douglas certainly doesn't charge that much for beer and food.

Well, another Forbes "worst of" stories.

We haven't had a terrorist attack and that is the thing that matters the most to me. Plus, you can park at the airport reasonably enuff, if you use one of the lots. And the valet parking is very convenient for business travelers in a hurry.

If I have to pay double or triple for a burger, I really do not care - b/c safety is my first priority.

I have been to every major airport in this country - and quite a few of the dippy ones, as well . . . and the CLT airport is clean, has good security and easier to navigate than most International airports.

Forbes can kiss my fluffy pink arse. I would rather fly in and and out of Douglas than OHare, Bush, JFK, LAX, etc any day.

As far as the cost of services (especially parking) I like CLT but it is true that the flights are A LOT more expensive from there.

Agree. We have been complaining about that since USAir took over Piedmont and I guess that has been 20 years ago, LOL.

Just got a round trip nonstop flight to LAX for $278. Also a round trip to White Plains nonstop also for $149. Quite inexpensive. Who cares how much the food costs at the airport, you are there to fly, not eat.

Why can't we have both good security and reasonably priced food? The cost of the burger is totally unrelated to security.

The cost of the burger is directly related to management costs for the airport. High square footage costs for leasing space means higher costs that the retail establishment will pass on to the consumer and so on down the line.

The airport is in great shape and the reason is b/c of revenue . . . and it takes revenue to keep the airport secure.

So yes, it is directly related. Business 101.

Agree. I have gotten plenty of low cost flights out of CLT over the years. All depends on carrier, competition rates, time of year, etc. There are bargains if you look for them. I had been looking at low rates to NYC lately. CHEAP!

The ticket to LAX . . . nice.
