Most seafood today is imported from all around the world. Having a resturaunt near the shore doesn't mean the fish is locally caught, it just fits the theme of the beach. I'm sure Phillips doesn't have local fisherman stopping in and dropping off "the catch of the day"

I don't like buffets ... I'd much rather just order off the menu and have my own plate of food ... cole slaw and hushpuppies and potato and tea.
Check out the Gastonia fish camps ... Grahams Fish Fry and Twin Tops across the street from each other on S. New Hope Road. Easy to find ... W. Wilkinson Blvd and cut through Belmont ... N Main St Belmont becomes Armstrong Ford Rd ends at New Hope Rd and both restaurants are there on each corner ... 4 miles total distance from W.Wilkinson cut-the-butter route through Belmont and eliminates driving all the way into Gastonia (W Wilkinson/Franklin Blvd.)

We didn't say it was locally caught - we said it was fresh daily - which Phillips is. In Charlotte we unfortunately just don't get too much seafood "fresh daily". Other places along the coastline do, especially up near Baltimore and D.C.

Inland Fresh Seafood (http://www.inlandseafood.com/archive/about.html - broken link)
This company has a distribution center in Charlotte. I would think they could supply any resturaunt with "fresh daily" seafood.

Help! I've never heard the term "fish camp". What does it mean?
And for the OP, I don't like Golden Corral but my DH settles for their Friday night buffet which features seafood. I miss fresh seafood too ...

They probably do But that is beside the point...the op wants a HUGE seafood buffet-type place like the one he enjoyed in D.C. - that just does not exist here in Charlotte.

Seafood buffets are not common, even in coastal areas. Sometimes Chinese buffets have seafood buffets on weekends.

I kind of got the impression that Myrtle Beach had a ton of seafood buffetts. Not sure about other costal areas, but that's the impresson I'm left with when visiting there. You see signs for them everywhere on the roads, and if you stay at a hotel they'll be several of them advertised in the little visitors books.

I seen recently commercial that Golden Corral is advertising a seafood buffet.
I feel leary about eating any kind of buffet due to alot of probabilities of possible situations that could cause "issues" when consumed.
