I doubt the OP will find a 3-bdrm apt for $900 in what she would consider a safe area. Maybe someone more local has an idea of prices for her? I've seen different ranges on this board but that seems to be too low.

I'm pretty new here myself, but I think in that price range for a 3 bedroom you may be better off looking in Cabarrus county or in other suburban outskirts. When my husband and I were looking last fall we were definitely not seeing many 3 bedrooms for that price that were of a decent quality/in a decent neighborhood.

There are decent shopping areas in Concord near Concord Mills, also a pretty quick drive to Northlake Mall, although most areas are not going to be "walkable."

A couple neighborhoods come to mind when you are looking for "family" neighborhoods with great schools and great amenities. The list consists of on the South side a neighborhood called Brandon Oaks. Check out www.brandonoaks.com. Also the Lawson community near Waxhaw. If you prefer the North side a neighborhood called Skybrook would be a great choice.
