tired of ny style claims
[quote=seahawks80;910964]I've had pizza from here a couple of times, and if you're lookinf for NY/NJ pizza, this isn't really the place for it. I'd say that it's not bad if you're looking for something decent and relatively cheap... QUOTE]
I don't think Papa's claims to be NY style, which I am happy about.
30 years in NY and the pizza varied greatly from shop to shop.
Hand tossed on fresh dough whith a sauce I like, it's all I look for and Papa's seems to have that... at a low price.

Have you ventured over to Brooklyn Pizza Parlor (intersection of Rea Rd and Colony Dr, a few minutes north of Piper Glen) or Portofino's (Ayrsley Town Center... turn left off the South Tryon exit on 485) yet? I think Tony's is very good, but these other two places might give you a new favorite

Marios in Matthews festival is the best I 've had in NC for Pizza. For Italian food try Mio Posto on 51, or Mamas in Mint Hill (both owners from NY and import ingredients). For a more chain type fell Buca di Beppo is next to Carolina Place Mall is real good - one of the bestr chicken Parmesan's I have ever had.

I've had Hawthorne's twice and thought it was pretty good. I'd put it just behind my two favorites, Brooklyn South in Huntersville and Tony's.
Now my challenge is finding decent Italian / pizza in the Fort Mill / Rock Hill area.

If you are looking for your typical NY/NJ style pie. . . then no Wolfman Pizza is not the place to go, but they make it pretty clear that they are a gourmet, california-style pizza place. Now if you are looking for fresh toppings, homemade sauces and something other than a grease filled cheese and pepperoni pizza then Wolfman is definitely the BEST place to go. You can have Brooklyn Boys. If you don't have an appreciative and experienced enough palate to enjoy gourmet pizza, then please don't go to Wolfman and tell other people not to go based off of your taste. I personally can't eat pizza anywhere else. . . but again, let's let the people decide for themselves.
