Default horse riding
Is there a place where the family can go horse riding in the area? Western style perferred... somehwere in Union county or surrounding areas.

Not in Union County, but Latta Plantation offers horseback rides. Haven't done it, just saw it on their website.

Thanks for the info...

I have been looking a bit into horse back riding, dude ranches, and riding stables in NC and SC, and the closest one is over 2 hours away. Maybe if I plan on spending a weekend somewhere it might be worth it. I was hoping to do a day trip somewhere close by and riding for a couple of hours with the family.

If anyone finds something, please let me know.

You might enjoy the Marvin Area Recreational Equine Show coming up April 4, 2009. It would be a good place to find out about the area horse farms.

Default riding
You should try Moses Cone Memorial Park in Blowing Rock. Just google the name and you'll find all the info you need. Really nice for a day trip.
