A piano bar for Plaza-Midwood! Can't wait to visit this place myself

Plaza-Midwood is becoming the place to be. Another club is opening there soon.

Petra's Piano Bar and Cabaret is scheduled to open next to the Penguin on April 13. Chris Hollar, a Greensboro native, and Robb Huddleston, a Gastonia native, are opening the bar, which is modeled after two popular piano bars in New York's West Village.

At Petra's, bartenders and cocktail servers will sing sets throughout the night. The music will range from '60s love songs to Broadway tunes to contemporary songs. Guests will also be able to make requests and sing with the piano player.

Petra's is a great addition to the Charlotte landscape of bars, feels like Cheers (from what I would think it would be like). The only challenge I've found as a patron is that the prices are never consistent. One owner will charge one price, another owner twice the price, a bartender yet a third. Something needs to be done to streamline that pricing. I've done barhopping for years, have never been so frustrated by the surprise at signing out my bartab at the end of an evening of drinking as Petra's. I frequent several other bars and there is consistency in the pricing.
