Hello friends,
We are moving to charlotte area (last minute confirmation of a job offer) in about a week time. We are from Raleigh. I would be working in downtown. Its just myself and my wife and so no worries yet about proximity to schools.
Can you pl advise on top 5 best communities to rent in charlotte ? I am flexible with the commute. My wife would possibly be commuting to Fort Mill, SC for her job. Ideal community would be
1. Safe
2. Affordable ($700 - $800 2 bed room?)
3. Within reasonable distance (30 minutes ?) to downtown and Fort Mill area
4. Close to groceries and shopping

Thanks a lot.
Appreciate your input.

The town of Pineville, South Charlotte and SW Charlotte (Steele Creek) border South Carolina so just about anywhere in those areas will give you 30 minute commute to uptown and Fort Mill. All three have plenty of shopping etc.

You may have a hard time finding a 2 bedroom apt. in your price range. You'll have no problem finding a one bedroom in the Steel Creek area, I'm not sure about the other areas.

I'm in Steele Creek and during off peak times I can get to Fort Mill and uptown in 10 -15 minutes. I don't drive to those areas during rush hour so I don't know what that commute time is like.
