I'll take a shot and say none of the group are venomous.

Great pictures. I agree. Was not trying to put out fear just to be aware. There are more "good" snakes then bad. I don't believe in harming them unless they are poisoneous and in your yard. Like we told my grandson "just leave the snake alone"!

One day last week I opened up our patio door and there was a small (baby?) snake right at the door sniffing around. Looking at the pictures posted I think it looked like number one, possibly number five. I've lived in Charlotte five years and this is the first snake I've seen. Growing up and living in the country I'm used to seeing snakes, although they freak me out I know they want to get away from me just as much as I want to get away from them.

#8 is a corn snake.

#10 - scarlet or milk snake, often confused with the venomous coral snake

Right. Remember, "Red touch black, friend of Jack. Red touch yellow, kill a fellow".

Here we go:
1. Ribbon snake
2. Not sure but harmless (a marsh snake)
3. black rat snake
4. green snake
5. water snake (non-poisonous)
6. Worm snake
7. Corn snake (sometimes called a rat snake)
8. Pine snake (That is what we called them in Florida. similar markings of a timber rattler or pigmy rattler. The shape of the head isn't viper shapped and the pupils of the eyes are round which indicate that they aren't poisonous)
9. Copperhead (poisonous)
10. King or scarlet snake. Same color marking as a coral snake, but the color sequences are different. (Red on yellow, stay away from that fellow).

Thanks to those that spare the lives of non-poisonous snakes. Remember, they have their place in nature. They kill rats, other unpleasant rodents and other poisonous snakes. Snakes will run from humans and are not aggressive in the U.S.
