You will need to check the South Carolina forums to get better answers. People from South Carolina frequent this forum but your pool of South Carolina responders who may have knowledge would be greater in that forum

I was born and raised in Charlotte, and my dad was one of "Charlottes Finest" for 25 years,... Moved away in 1986, and have been in SC ever since.... But,.. I gotta admit,.. Still a TARHEEL at heart!!!!! Thanks for your reply and your kindness!

ok i grew up in charlotte near margret wallace rd and independence ive got to tell you about a few creepy things in that area the first was the old lady w/ the big house in the woods right off of margret wallace if you lived in the area in the 90's she was the one who drove the old grey ny taxy cab her hubby has burried on her property, also it was said the woods around thompson childrens home was haunted all i can say as i kid i played in those woods i found satanic ritual stuff around thompsons childrens home and one time found a dead cat tied up about 4 ft high on a tree trunk, urban legend had it of alot of unexplaned deaths around thomsons childrens home, also in the early 80's of a double homicide where the trailhead to mcalpine greenaway is now at independence and margret wallace rd it was some kind of satanic ritual killing from what i had heard growing up there, in closing i have to say there is something very creepy about the woods around thompsons childrens home maybe someone else who lives in this area can confirm this too.

I've been there, this guy that had moved next door to me told me about it. He took me and my friends there and told us all these crazy stories (local folklore and such)..and then he told us this;
"Sometimes, they say when you're driving down this road..a big red truck will appear out of nowhere and be behind you with its bright-lights on and it basically is riding your tail..then when you get to the end of the road, if you go one direction, the truck will speed off in a different direction."
By this point, my friends and I were thinking his stories were full of crap and they were just what we thought they were, local folklore. At this point we had made it about halfway down the road (it was dusk-ish..just starting to get dark), and then all of a sudden from "nowhere" headlights appeared behind us and it seemed like the car was riding our tail very closely..so we sped up to let the car back off..he didn't..and that is when we realized it was a truck. We all freaked out and my buddy started driving faster, and when we got to the stop sign at the end of the road we turned right as fast as we could without wrecking....and we watched behind us as a big red truck turned a left off the road and disapered into the night. We never went back.

I hear that the bell tower at the NC School of the Deaf in Morganton is haunted. You can sometimes see a girl looking down from there.

Why would a school for the deaf have a Bell Tower?

Follow the trail down until you cross Margaret Wallace Blv.
Continue to follow follow the trail across the road. at the top of the first hill [the which hill im talking about will become obvious when you're there], look to your right.
the mill is across the creek.
its especially hard to see at twilight and night because of the distance from the trail and the fact that only 2 walls stand now.
i suggest you first find it during the day before you try to find it at night
there is a gate around it, but its fallen in the front and theres a gate around back.
to get to that, follow around the left side of the fence and continue up, it'll be at the top.
go when the creek is shallow, you're going to need to cross it
:]
it really is a neat place to explore,
but make sure you bring a flashlight at night, you WILL need it.
