Right now I live 15 minutes away in a nice suburb in Pittsburgh that can be accessed by the "T" (public transportation..rail system). It's only 399 a month and amazing. But this is Pittsburgh, the cheapest place to live.

What are your prices? I'm looking to get outta Pittsburgh next year.

Expect to pay at least $600 for something similar along our light rail just outside of uptown. It will be worth it for the better weather alone!
One place you may want to check out is Beacon Hill apartments along South Blvd - lots of stuff within walking distance and across from a light rail station.

How big is this city compared to Pittsburgh? About the same?

My sense of it is yes. However, unlike your downtown area - which seems to be a more 9-5 place with sidewalks all rolled up on the weekends, Charlotte's uptown is very busy, a destination type place night and day

You can find studios in South Charlotte for $450/month. You can get a single wide trailer in North Charlotte for $450/month as well. Generally prices are higher downtown.

I would personally NOT recommend anyone live ANYWHERE in Charlotte where they pay less than $500. a month - and that's pushing it. Even that won't get you in the best of places, just somewhat "better" places.

Agreed, I would plan for the $600 if you want something decent and safe. Only being to Steel City a couple times, I like Charlotte much better. It's newer/cleaner and not a communter city. Lots of construction and people moving in. New Nightclubs, retail, housing, businesses etc. Obviously it is struggling like everywhere else, but compared to Pitt, it's a breathe of relief. (Though I like your airport better). Our lightrail is new as well and growing. Do you have an idea of job wise?
