My husband and I are looking into moving to NC. We are looking at the Hickory area. . . Any pointers out there (good, bad, etc)? How is the job market. . . I'm not worried about myself as I am a nurse, my husband runs heavy equipment (has worked for municipalities here in Vermont for 21 years) and would like to find a job in this field. He enjoys driving a dump truck . . . Housing information we have received from this area looks like it is well below prices up here in Vermont and taxes are certainly lower. . .

I went to college on the NH/Vermont border. You'll miss the summers up there!!!

Summers seem to be short-lived here. We have been having "spring" until around the middle of June and then summer until the middle of August and then back to cold nights in September. . . . It's very humid most of the summer (not that NC won't be. . .) but you go from humid to cold weather with nothing really inbetween. We have enough snow here this year that we will be lucky if it is all gone in the woods by the middle of June!!!!:
