Yep, that about sums it up

WOW! I loved some of the responses here. We (DH, DD and I) are also hoping that he finds a job in Charlotte. He is also in the IT field. If he finds one than he will move and I will remain in NY until our daughter finishes school. He will stay at one of his friends homes. I am going down during the break to look at homes. It is nerve wracking. The waiting and hoping and wishing for the better life that awaits us in Charlotte. So far everyone that I have told about leaving NY, agrees with us. I am glad to see some other people are in the same situation as us. We have yet to put our home up for sale. I hope to do this by next week.

Best wishes to everyone!
Also, us Northerns are not as bad as I have seen some people make us out to be. There are obnoxious, rude and idiotic people every where.

Aligning the ducks in a row to make a relocation seems a daunting task. Did any of you sell your home, move down, rent then buy and do so without a job lined up? Did you find work before moving? How many used headhunters and was it productive?

Im in the banking field and while Charlotte is a major banking town, I know there may be difficulty in finding the right job. My wife is a physical therapist who specializes only in pediatric early intervention. My main concern is employment for her. Here in NY, early intervention is huge and she has a fantastic job. Not sure how this particular field is in NC. Getting off topic but if anyone has any insight on this I would appreciate it. I may post a separate thread.
