Well since no one really responded to my last question, I will try this -- For those of you currently living in the area what would you say is the best public High School in the N. Charlotte Area?

Again, thanks in advance

I can't comment on the schools. If we are still in the area when my 5 year old goes there I hope he can go to North Meck.

I like the way you sidestepped that one...you'd make a good politician!

past 2 years providence high has had the highest test scores. Myers Park was second and Butler third for the past year. Adrey Kell which was not opened last year has been predicted to have high scores as well. You can go to the website fro CMS and see the test scores for the past 2 years for each school and the break down of just about anything else you want to know. In the Newsweek magazine last year I think or the year before CMS had 3 schools featured as being among the 100 top public high schools. They were Myers Park, North Meck and I think Harding. East meck has also won that honor about 3 years ago. The individual schools could provide exact dates for those honors. Just an FYI.. Providence Springs Elem which is in south Charlotte and feeds into Providence High was awarded the #1 elem school in the state of NC this year. A friend of mine sent me the article and if that has any interest to you I will gladly share it. Good luck and I hope this helps.....

Well, he asked about NORTH Charlotte, so no, I don't see how your post will help. All you appear to be doing is trying to drum up business for your (and my) end of town. You are very transparent and hopefully I am not the only one to have noticed

In the north Charlotte area you have 3 choices, North Mecklenburg, Hopewell and Vance. Of the 3 North Meck gets better scores. It is also extremely overcrowded, though a new school will open in the fall to address that problem. If you were to go a bit further north out of Mecklenburg you would have a few more choices like Lake Norman High School in Mooresville. Check out greatschools.net for more detailed info on each school. I hope THIS info helps

Wasn't it listed really high overall for scores for high schools in NC? Seems like it was one of the top, if not the top?

Not counting public charter high schools, North Mecklenburg High had the 5th highest score of 16 high schools when measuring kids performing at or above grade level.

Also, Dion't forget that Meyer's Park had listed drop outs as transfers to make thier scores look better.

As for High Schools in North Meck Hopewell seems to be in the Huntersville Newspaper for the wrong reasons. North Meck has problems here and there and it is totall overcroweded (Mallard Creek High will reduce some of the overcrowding next year) and Vance is a little south and I would home school my student before sending them there. There are better options in Iradell, Cabarrus, and Lincoln Counties.
