"It's a soft old day outside" - this is the Irish way of avoiding any mention of bad weather even if it is pouring down and there is a gale force wind out.

Best to be at the pub with a pint & good friends in that case.

And a nice roaring fire to dry everyone's clothing out as they sit around w/ their ale.

I swear - I checked earlier - to see if I had mold growing anywhere around the house - it's so damp. I fully expect to see it on my person by tomorrow.

I'm wishing that I had more rain barrels. But alas my 2 are full to bursting.

I'm still giggling, picturing you checking yourself for mold.

smclarke, I lived in Ireland for a bit after college, and the walls inside the house were wet from all the moisture. Every day I was there was a soft old day, for sure. I get chilly just thinking about it. The peat fire at night made up for it, though. It was our only heat.
A pint of Guinness was (and still is) the best medicine!

Tell me about it, weather like this is why I moved from Ohio....I need to see the sun sometime soon, or I'll get really depressed.

I know we need the rain, but can't we have rain at night, and sun during the day?

I vote for that! Makes sense to me. Wonder why it doesn't work that way???

I protest. Rain at nite only.
