Hi! I am from Libertyville/Lincoln Park/Wheaton. I moved to SC a year ago (near Hilton Head) and am considering moving to Charlotte if I get a good job there. I am a single 30 y/o female with a master's degree. I don't have any kids, and I am not sure I want them. (Although finding my hubby would be wonderful!) I am very into dogs, the water, (are there any lakes where I can take my dog swimming?) laughing, exercising, reading, etc and am very friendly and liberal. Do you think I would fit in?? I don't want to move somewhere where I am the only independent, career-minded, woman who doesn't want to be a stay-at-home-mom.
Thanks!

It's because regardless of who we cheer for Spring and Summer - come Fall (when both teams are usually eliminated) we're all Bears fans.
Amazing how much of a melting pot Chicagoland is. You name the nationality, and 10 bucks says there's a neighborhood for it in or around the Windy City.
Heading to St. Marks (one of the only Catholic churches I think there is in North Charlotte / Concord / Huntersville). Happy Easter all.

So as a chicagoan, what advice might you have for someone who is considering moving from charlotte (born and raised here) to chicago?!? I'm 26 and may have a job opportunity in tinley park. Any advice for a single 26 year old female living in orland or tinley? Would there be enough to do for a couple years before I try to move back here? Parks, live music, christian groups, unique restaraunts in tinley or orland?
PS. you have st. James in Concord off 601

Kaj28 - there's absolutely something for everyone in Chicago. Everything you mentioned...plenty of it in the Chicagoland area. I'm biased, but Chicago in the summertime is unparalleled.
One thing that will get very old for a Charlottean real quick are the bitter winters. Just as summertime in Chicago is bliss, wintertime - for the unprepared - is unforgiving.
My cousin lives in Tinley Park, and ironically, he's visiting Charlotte this weekend. I'll get his take on Tinley, as I'm not 100% familiar with the area these days.
My advice to a 26-year old...ENJOY!!! I have no doubts you will absolutely love Chicago.
Thanks for the tip on St. James.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
BrianH1970 - you know something I don't know? I'm pretty sure we are done with Wrecks Gross, man.
Look out for the Bears this year...a dependable QB, a friendly schedule and a winnable NFC North means we have as good a shot as any team.

Sullyman - I can comfortably say Cutler is twice the quarterback Rodgers is.
The moment the trade was made - Green Bay instantly lost any prayer of a shot it had at the division for the next decade.
Good luck competing for a Wild Card.
Bear down!

Thanks for asking your cousin about Tinley. It's always nice to get a perspective from someone who lives in the town. Yes, I have a feelng my suvival instincts will kick in once I experience the cold!

ChicagoJoe82~
Also, I would be working in tinley, but am looking to potentially live in orland park. In case your cousin has any insight on orland park as well!
Also, will I be kicked out of the state if baseball bores me to death?

not so much, but, don't count on meeting other singles, because in the summer, everything revolves around baseball.
