I know, I think I need baseball fan 101 cliffnotes. I'm athletic, but more of a tennis football kind of fan...I guess that will have to change!

Sullyman - I can comfortably say Cutler is twice the quarterback Rodgers is.
The moment the trade was made - Green Bay instantly lost any prayer of a shot it had at the division for the next decade.
Good luck competing for a Wild Card.
Bear down!

well, start now...watching baseball on WGN. Now, depending upon where you will live will depend who you will follow...north side, you should be a Cubs fan, south side, White Sox fan. And, you never switch sides. (or go to the other side of the city for that matter). Look up the websites so you can talk intelligently about your adopted team and realize that if there is a baseball game, nothing else matters!!

Dear KEKMOM2,
I am from Arlington Heights and have lived in A.H. most of my life! It is a great town with excellent schools and park district! Very difficult to measure up to, let alone beat all of its amenities!
My husband and I contiplated for a few years to relocate to Charlotte and finally took the plunge! We are actually in the process of relocating, in that we currently have our home on the market (wish the market was more active), my husband and 2 kids (10 yr old-she goes to OMS and 4 yr old) are still residing in Arlington Heights and I am living in Charlotte.
So far, Charlotte is great! I have met many nice people, like the fact that Charlotte is a city, but open land is also nearby! We have researched the schools in and around Charlotte and found that Union County seems to have the best schools in the area. We are currently looking for a house in Waxhaw, for the most part.
My parents, in-laws, brother, brother-in-law all live in A.H., as well! We are very close with each other's in-laws and families! There are no words to say how much they will be missed! However, we will never miss the Chicago winters!
Go for it!

I'm not from Chicago, but I am from Illinois -- Champaign. I'm a diehard Cubs and Bears fan. I've lost interest in the Bulls lately. I'm becoming more of a Bobcats fan now that I live in Charlotte.

Hey, guys....
There is a poster on another thread that says that there are hicks in Chicago because there is a NASCAR track there. (is Charlotte urban? is the thread). I invited him to go into any bar in the city and say that.
Maybe we could send him flowers in the hospital!

Any advice for a single 26 year old female living in orland or tinley? Would there be enough to do for a couple years before I try to move back here? Parks, live music, christian groups, unique restaraunts in tinley or orland?
PS. you have st. James in Concord off 601

Kaj28 - Having just moved from Chi, note that Tinley/Orland is quite a bit out of the city (similar to a Concord). While I'm sure there is nightlife in Tinley, if you want that sort of activity that city life brings, hold out and work downtown. In the city, you'll find tons of single late 20s/early 30s, where Tinley would be limited and most grew up there and have established friendships. There are pros & cons to everything, but the Concord comparison to Tinley is something to be aware of. Good luck.

ChitoNC~Yea that is my big concern that I would be moving from Concord to concord, but just in a different state. But I would only be moving up there for this position and it is in tinley park. I'm not sure I want to be making a 45 minute commute everyday to work. I wish some place like Oak Park was a little bit closer to tinley so I could have better access to the city.

i turned a job down in Orland Park so I could avoid a commute - best decision ever. There were lots of jobs in Chicago for smart folks - move to the city and you'll find something (Lakeview area is my reco - no car needed) unless you are in one of those really bad-off industries or don't have the edu. Good luck.

Fond memories. You will miss the resturants, but not the weather and toll booths. I'm a western suburbs guy and my wife is a south sider, but our first date was a Cubs game.
