We are moving into Lawson in June. I know the commute is a little rough around Providence & 485 area, but how bad am I looking from Lawson?
I don't have to be into work until 8:30-9am...but the ride home is scaring me.

Any suggestions??

Yeesh!

The commute stays rough down 485 from Providence all the way to the 77 interchange.

I would give myself an hour going in at that time. If you could arrange to work earlier that would be the way to go.

Thank you! Yeah...today I made it a point to look on Google Maps and study the BACK roads. I appreciate the reply.

+1,

That bumper to bumper would absolutely drive me crazy (speaking of the return trip), but to each his own.

You would probably need to leave at 7am to be sure. But it varies each day. We are about 8 minutes from lawson and my dh leaves early some days and late others and does the corresponding thing in the evenings. He will sometimes leave at 6:30 and leave work at 3:30 and then he will leave at 9:00am and stay at work till 6:30. If you like your new home and the countryside and you find a radio station you like it's not too bad.

Also keep in mind that the Cutherberson schools will be opening in the fall, and that will add a fair amount of traffic to Cutherberson Rd on each end during drive time. Not sure if they are putting in a light at New Town and Cutherberson, but it would be a good idea.

When the economy improves they really need to make that stretch of 485 into 4 lanes each way.

I would take Providence up to Rea, turn left on Rea and pick up 485 there. I think it's better than the Providence exit. And coming home, just the reverse.

most of the neighborhoods that will be going to Cuthbertson will be coming from the Newtown Road side, I believe.

I would be taking Cuth. to Providence to avoid that. However, that answer would really depend on school start time. currently weddington buses are getting to school after 8 anyway and starts after 8:30

Good luck in Lawson, its really pretty. Which builder?

Were going to be on the Ryland side off Hoyle-across the model. There are a lot of positives with the home, the area, the school, etc. that they wound up out waying the commute. I work for WSOC-Channel 9, so I guess I will have the scoop on the traffic alerts. HAHA...
For my son-does anyone know a good summer camp in that area? Would the Siskey Y be the closest or best bet? Just curious. My son is 10 and will be going to Kensington next year-so afterschools and camp are a must know!
Thanks for all the advice.
