I have a strong suspicion there will be a whole lot more New Yorkers heading your way to CLT.

NYS passed their budget this week and Gov Patterson in his infinite wisdom decided NOW was the time to increase EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. Highest budget increases in 30 years.

So why do I think there're headed your way? Why not? Better taxes. Better weather. Bigger bang for the buck in houses. They THINK more opportunity for work. (I know etc., but THEY don't know). And all of the other good things that Charlotte stands for.

So, get ready. Build more roads. OPen more schools. And stand at the border with a welcome wagon.

Just my 2Cents but I don't think I will be far off.

LMAO, Ani!
Hopefully they'll come to their senses after reading this article:

ROFL!!! I was hoping everyone would get the humor.

Well, it seems people don't care how high our unemployment is - they are still arriving. And you know - New Yawkers have started referring to Charlotte as the Sixth Burrough . . . so it is inevitable. But honestly - I cannot fathom how New Yorkers could be truly happy here. We don't even have a big museum. I find that a huge deficit and only wish I were a billionaire and could endow a robust museum for Charlotte.

Maybe our New York brethren will bring more great Italian food and some bakeries and bagelries with them. After all, people could move here and start businesses and that would benefit us all!

But if people are coming expecting to find work . . . wow. Just - wow.

Now, y'all aren't being very friendly. After all, we're a gentler, slower people here, waiting for civilization to get here. At least we have IKEA.

Well you know the only people worse than New Yorkers are those refinery buildin', turnpike toll payin', "how you doin'" sayin', Springsteen worshippin', Sopranos lovin', swamp creatures from across the river.

And you know they're comin' over in droves... Joey Baggadonuts packin' up the IROC-Z and splittin' town to lay waste across the southern states.

Good for nothin' SOB's....

John, you must not be from NY....

NY has ALWAYS been one of the highest taxed state in the union. Property taxes (esp on Long Island) are through the roof. Nothing has changed except Patterson is sticking it right now to the people who contribute the most tax revenues right now. Not good.....

NY'ers are very much responsible for the growth that many here enjoyed over the years. Yes, its a double edged sword, but it is what it is.....

Nothing has changed except NY'ers CAN'T sell their homes and move here. The desire has always been there. The slowdown has been going on since '05-'06 up there, and as expected we followed the slowdown when transplants couldn't sell.....

Well. If we have to take in the huddled masses from NYC, looks to me like NYC should do something reciprocal - give all North Carolinians free tickets to the Met. Or something.

We need some kind of compensation. I demand SOMETHING. A subway token? A Yankees hat?
