As early as I see the weeds I spray them with Weed B Gone. I have found it you just pull them out you don't often get it all and they come back. I also sprinkle with Preen. Not sure how I feel about that. Doesn't seem to be too effective. And mulch is the best thing for preventing weeds.

Used Weed B Gone last year on my backyard and it worked as expected - very well. It may harm your bermuda grass and turn it yellow, but other kinds of grass it will leave alone.
I gotta tell ya, these weeds are on some kind of steroids down here. They must really love red cement; er, clay dirt...because they sure grow and take over everything. Haven't found anything that works yet and I have tried it ALL. Landscape fabric, Roundup, pulling them, mulch to smother them...you name it and that just makes them more fierce. It is unbelievable!!
A friend gets rid of her weeds by pouring scalding hot water on them- at the base of the stem. Never tried it myself, but it works on her yard. And it's eco-friendly and all that good stuff.
You should have spread a pre-emergent in the month of Feb or March for the Spring weeds. You wcan kill them by using a weed killer. Weed and Feeds are usually good. If you use a "weed killer" you do not want to kill the grass too. Don't panic since our season is early and drought conditions may come back. Remember next Feb or March to spead a pre-emergent.
