Im currently living and going to college in Charleston, SC but after I graduate this december, Id like to move on! I love love love charleston, but Ive been here for 15 years! I wanted something that was not to far away but has enough distance that Ill feel like Im on my own. The city is bigger then Charleston but not so big that Id get totally lost. Im looking to rent somewhere for awhile in a trendy young community where I can walk out my front door and be in the thick of things. Being surrounded by resturants and parks and attractions would be ideal, though I dont necessarily need to be in the city (which i expect would get expensive). Since I will be on my own I need any excuse possible to get out there and meet and be around lots of people. Does a place like this exist??

cleight,
You made a double post.
Hmm.
You cannot spell 'resturants' correctly and you will be battling for jobs against people with 10-15 or more years experience depending on your major.
I know MBAs working retail and restaurants...
Charlotte is hard hit, get a job first, then move.

Oh, I love Charleston, too! Hubby went to MUSC. We head to C'ton every chance we get.
I think Charlotte is a great place to land if you enjoy being in C'ton. But just know: it IS very different.
It would all depend on your budget as to where you could live, of course, and that is a variable you are not sure of yet. So . . . can you plan a trip up here sometime? There are neat places in Dilworth and Elizabeth. Any chance you would have a roommate coming with you? Cause splitting the rent would sure make it easier.
I have always had this dream (wh/ will most likely go unfulfilled) of having a storefront shop in Charleston . . . and living upstairs. I love the vibe of downtown. So I guess what I am saying is . . . that is hard to duplicate here. However, the beauty of it is, I think you could make yourself a nice world here in CLT and you are still close enuff to head to SC for those weekend trips w/ friends.
