I have pink one directly outside the bathroom window and I find myself memorizing the last few days.

I wish they was like Crepe Myrtles with the long lasting blooms

My favorite is the weeping cherry tree. I think those are so beautiful. I am going to buy one this week for my front yard.
Here's a pic of the magnolia I was talking about.
Nope, the flowers are real petite. I'll have to take a photo and post.

maybe a redbud?

It's one of my favorite native species. Some characteristics: its among the first bloomers in the spring... their purple flowers are splashes of color in an early spring forest. The flowers grow right from the branches. They are small trees that spread at the top with many branches. Their bark is pretty smooth and dark and in the summer they have broad, heart shaped flowers.

I was thrilled to see all the redbud blooming around South Charlotte/Ballantyne. Just love it. I'm really enjoying my first spring here...everything is so beautiful. Do lilacs grow here? I love them too but haven't seen any.

They don't seem to. They are some of my favorites. I think I remember reading that there are only a few species that can tolerate it down here. Don't know if it's soil, humidity, or just overall differences in growing zones. Wisteria kind of makes up for it visually, but nothing replaces that scent!
Redbuds seem to do well down here. I love those! Such a sweet tree.
I'm curious about a large flowering bush in our yard, too. It's got medium-sized, dark green leaves, it grows up like a basic cylinder, and the white flowers that bloom (not yet) smell just like Jolly Ranchers. I'll post pictures when it blooms, since it just looks like a bush right now.

Nope, I will have to do an online search. I looked this am and the blooms are gone!
