Anyone have an update on the shopping center at New Town and Providence Rd in Waxhaw/Weddington? I think it is called Newtown Garden or Village

Last we were told, a huge YMCA was going in there as well as a beautiful shopping center. I believe its all on hold. Lat Purser is the Developer. The plans looked real impressive. Oh well! We can certainly use it down here.

I noticed last time I picked up at Papa John's pizza place that the ice cream place was out of business. It was a Cold Stone or whatever the other one was callled.

Yes...from what I understand it had to do w/ issues other than the economy. Something about the region being owned by someone else so they had to close.

I heard that Lat Pruser couldn't get financing for the project. It's been a while though.

I understand there are renewed talks with approvals and the new Place at Providence Rd & Newtown Rd will be called: Marvin Gardens.

It will be anchored by a Publix (good to see one in this area in the sea of HT's).

Anybody has more information of other stores?
