It sounds like a mortgage broker. My advice would be to go to your local bank and refinance that way.

Cubs, Your very wrong there. A good, reputable broker will beat a bank everytime. I know I get people calling me all day long because the guy at the bank is not licensed or properly trained.

I would actually agree. The local Banks are not getting back to customers in a timely manner due to the refi boom and the rates are typically better with a broker or correspondent lender.

I'd just check with the NC Commissioner of Banks and if they seem to be credible then I'd give them a call. I send out quite a few of these letters per week as I am also a mortgage broker. Rates are great and everyone is refinancing. The only thing most of my clients aren't too pleased with is the amount of time it is taking due to the lack of underwriters so it is taking almost 2 weeks in underwriting alone with some lenders/banks.
Hope this helps!

For anyone ith an FHA make sure you ask about a Streamline refi. It is faster and less expensive. It does not allow you to pull out equity but will get you rate down if that is your goal.
