I probably shouldn't give out this information, although it may help some of you with your after school situation. My son lives right in Waxhaw, and he found a reasonable place for his six year old son. Would you believe that Reeds Karate Academy has an after school program? My grandson went there for a free lesson and tour....and was just so happy with himself, when he told me about it. He was even given a karate outfit!!

I have a child who attended afterschool. If you are looking for good care (homework help, stucture), this is not the place. Had to stop my child from doing homework there b/c it was hardly ever correct and half done, which meant double work. They are not all they claim to be!! Too expensive and not worth it!!!

Just thought I would bring this back up to the top. Looks like the last review was 2009. My daughter has attended Reed's for this entire school year for aftercare and their summer camp program. Reed's is a great atmosphere, they help with homework (what parent doesn't actually check??) and their structure has improved my childs focus and confidence.

I recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe, affordable, childcare that isnt looking for that typical aftercare daycare setting.

ETA: I had my daughter in daycare settings since age 1. I cannot tell you the difference I feel, not only in the level of care but the level of progression she has made in karate and in herself being at a place like Reed's.
