Show me one so-called rural area with scores of office towers and residential buildings.

ru⋅ral [r oo r- uh l]
–adjective
1.of, pertaining to, or characteristic of the country, country life, or country people; rustic: rural tranquillity.
2.living in the country: the rural population.
3.of or pertaining to agriculture: rural economy.
ur⋅ban [ur-buhn]
–adjective
1. of, pertaining to, or designating a city or town.
2. living in a city.
3. characteristic of or accustomed to cities; citified: He is an urban type.
Both definitions taken from Dictionary.com. I don't see any valid points arguing that areas within the city limits of Charlotte are more rural than urban.
And please stop referring to yourself in the 3rd person, diggums.

Charlotte, like most US cities (including Atlanta -- sorry to disappoint our Georgia friends who think that they're in a real city), is very suburban. Tryon Street, the heart of Uptown, is sleepy.
Charlotte is a nice place, but it's not urban. It's a lot like suburban cities outside of New York like White Plains and Stamford, Ct.

As I said earlier, Charlotte is a nice suburban city with a few pockets of urban areas. We are, however, very much a "real city"
We are also, unfortunately, no longer rural.

Charlotte is more urban than any other city in the Carolinas, but it is still mainly suburban...only Uptown, Southend, & NoDa really are truly urban....most sunbelt cities aren't really urban, b/c they all have a massive suburban sprawl b/c they have hit their major growth in the age of the automobile.

Now with this, I must disagree. I believe that Charleston is far and away the most urban city in the Carolinas. It has a highly developed, tightly compacted, very walkable urban core, historic structures, a strong retail base, etc. Some would even say that Asheville and Wilimington are more urban than Charlotte.

If you are from Red Oak, Iowa, you will think that Charlotte is a large urban area. If you are from Philadelphia, you won't. Problem solved.
I am just sick that this idiotic topic has come up again

Have you ever been to Chicago? Sad to say (from my perspective, anyway) NASCAR has a huge racetrack on the south side.
