Don't have a clue since it doesn't make any sense at all.Since I cannot conceive of one single reason why he would want to do this...Im thinking he has something in the back of his mind that we cant think off. That's all. Nothing deeper than that.

Sometimes it's worth paying the commssions especially if you arre buying in an area unfamiliar to you. Having an exclusive buyers agency agreement, the agent must offer in complete confidence, trust and loyalty to your needs. Not knowing all the "material facts" can cost you more than simple commissions. Your looking at staying a year or two sounds like trying to "flip" a property or a tax incentive. I guess it's all a gamble anyway - good luck.

I wouldn't recommend buying a property on your own. Besides, as other people already said, you don't pay the realto commission - the seller does.
