There are crane operators working in u/t Charlotte last I saw on the news. I'm not there everyday so don't really know. I'd look at the local newspaper, Charlotte Observer, to see if there's anything in there, and the big job hunting websites to get an idea. There is also the Employment Security Commission or ESC for NC. In NY we called it the Unemployment Office or Employment Office.

As far as union, how I understand it, it is very rare down here. I'm sure between a CDL and COL, work could be found but I highly doubt it's going to pay union rates accustomed to. It's comparing apples and oranges...

Seems I see a crane nearly every day somewhere, so there must be jobs. I searched "crane operators charlotte" and came across this website. Maybe this will give you some leads:

Good luck!

Thanks Marvin I will check it out..and yes that is exactly what I was thinking..he has a CDL and does the BIG one for Times Square..He really builds signs for a living and is in the SheetMetal Union...but he loves doing the crane and has his CDL for quiet a few years..They looked into his union down in NC, they do have one however the pay was so hurendious they couldnt live on it there..lol so he figured maybe he would make more money by being a crane operator...
