I think the Waxhaw-Marvin area would fit very well, especially given that you are looking for a newer home. Hunter Oaks is an excellent suggestion. But don't eliminate other neighborhoods -- consider Providence Plantation, Ardrey (really neat neighborhood though you won't get as much land there), Providence Crossing, Providence Country Club, Bridgehampton, there are even a couple in Providence Downs. Also, Ryan is starting a new community, Ballanmoor, just across from Ardrey Kell HS.

Wow!! Thanks to everyone for all of the useful info!! Hubby will be in Charlotte in 1 week, and hopefully he'll check out some of these neighborhoods while he's there. As soon as we get an accepted offer on our home here in OH, we'll be flying down together to start looking at homes. I can't wait!

Yes, Waxhaw is a good idea. I wouldn't recommend Huntersville. You'll regret it.
